In a thrilling display of athleticism and strategy, the ULM Warhawks claimed victory over Arkansas State in the first-ever game branded as the Rice Bowl Rivalry on September 27, 2025. Backed by USA Rice, this highly anticipated matchup added a fresh layer of tradition to a long-standing rivalry, celebrating the cultural and agricultural bond between the two universities, rooted in the expansive rice fields that connect their communities.
Led by new head coach Bryant Vincent, the Warhawks showed off a dynamic offense and steadfast defense that consistently outmaneuvered their rivals. Played in front of a packed stadium during homecoming, the contest ended in an electrifying win — ULM’s first triumph over Arkansas State since 2009. One that will be remembered not only as a highlight for ULM’s season, but also as a proud debut for the Rice Bowl name and trophy, a lasting symbol of the cooperative spirit of the rice-farming regions they represent.
